Thomas Hollenberg

Prof. Dr. Hollenberg is a Senior Mining Engineer, Management Expert and Entrepreneur with more than 30 years professional experience in mining business, consulting, tendering and contracting.
He studied mining engineering at RWTH Aachen in Germany and did his PhD when he already was working in the industry. His final position as Division Manager in a worldwide operating Mining Contractor Company he held more than 15 years, before he founded and managed his own Mining Contractor and Consulting Companies as CEO.
Mr. Hollenberg managed single projects of more the 150 million Euro contract volume with more than 500 employees and worked in more than 25 countries worldwide.
In 2014 he managed a World Bank financed Project in Mongolia: Strategic Planning of Erdenes Mongol LLC. In 2014 / 2015 he was involved in the World Bank Projects “Capacity Building for the Ministry of Land, Mines and Energy” in Liberia and in 2015 in the “Development and Implementation of the Mining Law” in Tadjikistan.
In 2009 he additionally started teaching as visiting lecturer at Clausthal University of Technology and became Professor and Director Mining at Namibia University of Science and Technology in 2016.
In 2020 he joined the German Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology in Ulaanbaatar as Program Coordinator for Raw Materials and Process Engineering. Early 2022 he was promoted to Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
Prof. Hollenberg resigned at GMIT last September, but he is still teaching there as well as at THGA in Germany.
Additionally, he was elected as Vice President of the German-Mongolia Business Association.
